X-Men Days Of Future Past: 20 Big Questions That Still Need Answers
7. How Big Will Kitty Pryde's Role Be?
Since the Kitty Pryde (Ellen Page) from the trilogy wasn't alive in the '70s it's not feasible for her to go back in time like in the comics. For Kitty Pryde fans and fans of the original storyline it's disappointing that her role had to be reduced, but hopefully her role will remain significant. After all, seeing as the original story was only two issues long and the movie will likely be two hours plus, there will be more future scenes in which Kitty can appear. Speaking of appearing, Iceman certainly will and in The Last Stand he and Kitty's relationship deepened despite Bobby already being romantically involved with Rogue, so that's a plotline that'll be interesting to explore further in this film. In the comic storyline Kitty was part of the resistance against the Sentinels, so it'd be a nice homage to the comics to see Kitty fighting against the Sentinels all while being used by the Sentinels to carry out missions.
6. Is Cyclops Alive?
One of X-Men fans' main gripes with the X-Men films has been the treatment of Scott Summers/Cyclops. Cyclops is a fan favourite and the leader of the X-Men but he's basically a supporting character in the X-Men trilogy. In The Last Stand Cyclops was killed off-screen by Jean Grey/Phoenix and the fact that he didn't even get the dignity of an onscreen death was the worst insult to fans. We didn't see Cyclops die and Singer has said the film will address Cyclops' absence. This implies there's a chance he could return in a later film, as well as opening up the possibility of The Last Stand being retconned or events being changed due to the timeline-changing events of Days of Future Past. It'd be a shame is Cyclops was gone for good Marsden is well suited for the role and deserves more time to develop the character of Cyclops and finally take his place in the franchise as the leader of the X-Men.
