X-Men Movies: 15 Moments That Pissed Off Every Fan

11. Rogue & Mystique Lose Their Powers - X-Men: The Last Stand

Of the many bad decisions that The Last Stand made, one of the worst was the choice to take two of the best X-Men characters and strip their powers away. Most egregiously was Mystique, who was shot with a dart containing the mutant "cure" while attempting to protect Magneto, causing her to transform into a regular human, even if the ending of the film seemed to imply that its effects were temporary. Then, at the end of the film, Rogue opted to take the mutant cure of her own volition, much to Iceman's upset...and that of most fans watching. The problem is that neither of these moments really had much in the way of a dramatic payoff nor served the narrative: people don't want to see these characters getting gimped when they can clearly be doing so many other exciting and entertaining things, especially Mystique. Perhaps the originally planned X-Men 4 might've restored their powers, but now that the whole thing has been rebooted, we never have to think about it.
