X-Men Movies: Ranked From Worst To Best

7. X-Men Origins: Wolverine

Some may have expected that Brett Ratner's ambitious but distinctly wayward threequel would be the immediate choice for the bottom rung of the X-Men ladder, but despite its manifold errors (more of which very soon) it is easily better than Gavin Hood's misguided origin story. Despite the strength of the source, and some incredibly good characters to play with, the script forX-Men Origins: Wolverine is very poor (laughably so in places) and it's a case of some great components and a major opportunity being swallowed up in bad execution, as well as some woeful directing that basically turned Wolverine into a moody caricature of himself. Best Moment Up until he is horribly screwed by the script, and we're forced to watch an enduring comic book character dragged through the mud in the misguided attempt to introduce a villain who poses a genuine threat to Wolverine, Deadpool is very good. The casting of Ryan Reynolds - like that of Liev Shrieber - is nailed on, and hopefully it will lead to the mooted Deadpool spin-off the character deserves. Worst Moment Everything that involves Deadpool after the reveal that he has become Weapon XI.
