X-Men: Supernova - 10 Big Questions We Need Answering

1. Will It Be Better Than The Last Stand?

Lastly, the most important question of all: this isn't going to be a naff retread of an already-naff film, is it? Please? The X-Men franchise and its fandom might not survive another disappointment on the scale of The Last Stand. Fox has shown some serious bravery to give that film's screenwriter another shot at Dark Phoenix, which will start to look like super stupidity if Supernova turns out badly.

For one thing, nobody wants to see if another film where Jean Grey's downfall gets overshadowed by a completely different plot strand. Famke Janssen couldn't make Phoenix work as a subplot, and it's doubtful that Sophie Turner could either. This film has to really focus in on Jean; it should showcase the limitless nature of her power, and explore in depth the toll it takes on her psyche.

Supernova should have some huge, inventive visuals and some seriously dark scenes. There should be death and destruction that actually means something. Here's hoping Fox bring in a director who can deliver all that, and don't rush out a bad movie in a bid for quick bucks. The Dark Phoenix Saga means a lot to people, and screwing it up once was bad enough.

What do you think of the X-Men: Supernova news? Do you trust Kinberg and Turner with Dark Phoneix? Who would your dream director be? Sound off in the comments below...
