1. Emma Frost - January Jones (X-Men: First Class)

While Halle Berry's performance as Storm wasn't bad enough to entirely alienate X-Men fans (a vocal minority have defended her efforts), opinion was undivided when it came to January Jones's portrayal of Emma Frost in X-Men: First Class. No other performance in an X-Men movies has been so widely derided as a complete and utter disaster.

Jones has a reputation for being incredibly difficult to work with, and given the lacklustre performances she often delivers it's a wonder why filmmakers put up with it. When it came to Emma Frost, fans simply weren't standing for it, viewing her performance as lacking any screen presence at all, a face like an icy blank stare and - most damning of all - the worst part of the film.

Fans can only speculate as to how the character would have turned out had Alice Eve been cast in the role; the Star Trek: Into Darkness actor bailed on the film after reading the script, leaving us to deal with Jones's personality vacuum encapsulating precisely nothing of Emma Frost's comic book portrayal.
