X-Men Movies: 5 Awesome Performances & 5 That Sucked
5 That Sucked
5. Wade Wilson - Ryan Reynolds (X-Men Origins: Wolverine)
While Reynolds might be lapping up the limelight after wiping the floor at the box office with Deadpool, his first attempt to bring the foul-mouthed amoral "hero" to the big screen, appearing in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, was a very different story indeed.
Widely regarded as the worst entries to the X-Men franchise (something Hugh Jackman would no doubt agree with, having expressed disappointment himself), X-Men Origins: Wolverine was originally supposed to feature Ryan Reynolds in a cameo as Wade Wilson, with the role becoming expanded after he was cast. Absurdly - and inexplicably - Wade gets transformed into generic villain Weapon XI for Logan to fight in a boring, CGI-heavy showdown.
Reynolds might have put in the effort when it came to getting in shape for the role and learning how to wield a sword, but when it came to delivering the lines (as bad as they were) it transformed into an utterly underwhelming and forgettable performance. Reynolds himself appeared to feel the same way - in an interview with Collider in 2013 the actor said, "Deadpool was not happy with Deadpool in Wolverine. He has a sort of a WTF!? moment with that."
