10 "Next Big Thing" Video Games That Completely Flopped

9. Too Human

Too Human was the game that the now-defunct Silicon Knights bet the farm on. In development hell since the late 1990s, the ambitious RPG went through multiple different iterations before it eventually released in 2008.

Blending science-fiction with Norse mythology, players were cast as a cybernetically enhanced god who was shunned by his peers for being - you guessed it - "too human". Sadly, that's about as creative as this role-playing game got, as the rest of the title was spent exploring bland dungeons and grinding against the same enemies for loot that never seemed worth it.

Originally scheduled to hit the original PlayStation then later the Nintendo GameCube and then finally the Xbox 360, despite its troubled development the studio behind the game were still certain that their hard work would be worth it.

Unfortunately the title was a huge flop, and while it didn't kill the studio immediately, it certainly contributed heavily to their demise a few years later.
