3. Sonic Boom: Rise Of Lyric

The motto of the Sonic franchise might be "gotta go fast," but perhaps Sega should consider changing it to "don't get your hopes up."

It is a long established truth that most Sonic the Hedgehog games are crushing letdowns. With that in mind, calling this game one of the worst entries in the series should convey just how bad it is.

This Wii U exclusive is a 3D action adventure platformer so full of technical issues and poor design choices that it gives Sonic '06 a run for its money. You'd think Sega would have learned their lesson, but apparently not.

Here's a breakdown of some of the game's worst issues: it is entirely unpolished, the camera system is unpredictable, its riddled with bugs and glitches, the combat is dull and repetitive, the controls are unresponsive, and overall, it was released fundamentally broken.

Thankfully, the game didn't actually ship too many units, ranking as one of the worst-selling entries in the franchise. That isn't great for Sega, but it at least cushioned the blow to consumer wallets.

The next time someone complains about Sonic Frontiers, remind them that things can always be worse.
