At the end of Red Dead Redemption, instead of literally riding off into the sunset in a typically happy ending, protagonist John Marston is made into Swiss cheese by the rifles of a battalion of US Federal agents. It's a heartbreaking conclusion, and one that comes as a complete surprise - unless you'd been paying close attention.

Throughout the game, Marston repeatedly encounters a strange man in a stovepipe hat who seems to know an inordinate amount about him. After completing his set of side-missions, the two meet once more at a river bank in Beecher's Hope. The stranger cryptically notes that "it'll make a fine spot"; there are two marks which indicate where John and wife Abigail will later be buried.

Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, old-school adventure games (they're not dead), and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know). He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
