10 Amazing Video Games You'll Never Get To Play
8. Fez II
What it was meant to be: The follow-up to Phil Fish and Polytron's critically acclaimed indie darling was first revealed during E3 2013 with nought but a title card. Fish's sequel would have marked the return of the fez hat-wearing Gomez for further adventures in the gorgeous pixel art world that he had recently discovered was more than two-dimensional.
Why you'll never play it: Not long after the sequel's announcement, Fish, an outspoken proponent of independent games development (as made clear by his appearance in Indie Game: The Movie), found himself dragged into a heated and very public argument with games journo Marcus Beer on social media, concerning Microsoft's recent policy change on self-publishing.
Fish threw his hands up and declared that Fez II had been cancelled shortly after the dust had settled, exiting stage left. So abrupt was his departure that even developer Polytron had no prior knowledge of the decision.
Poor Gomez. A more heartbreaking example of collateral damage you'll never witness.
