10 Amazing Video Games You'll Never Get To Play
7. Rainbow Six: Patriots
What it was meant to be: We should know by now, that what Ubisoft shows us and what Ubisoft gives us (take a bow, Watch Dogs) can often be two very different things.
The public never saw what Rainbow Six: Patriots would have looked like in action, but if the proof of concept it released in 2011 was any indication, the sequel's New York setting and story threads pertaining to a homegrown terrorist threat had all the ingredients of success.
Why you'll never play it: No formal reason for the restart has ever been provided by Ubisoft for Patriots' scrapping, though it's of note that some of its themes appear to have carried over to this year's Far Cry 5 as well as Siege itself.
The most likely explanation comes down to Ubisoft's premature announcement of Patriots, a decision it made, as prefaced in the announcement, in an effort to get ahead of a supposed leak that was imminent. Whatever the case, Patriots' replacement (Siege) turned out to be an excellent addition to the franchise.
Crisis averted.
