10 Announced Video Games That Mysteriously Disappeared
5. Star Wars: Project Ragtag
The Dead Space franchise is one of the
most affecting, violent, frightening, unapologetic thrill rides in survival
horror history. It really is remarkable what Visceral Games achieved here, and
it’s a shame that the studio just disappeared so unceremoniously. The same’s
true of their last high-profile assignment, a Star Wars titled named only
Project Ragtag.
Precious little is known about the title, beyond the fact that it was a third-person adventure set during the time of the original trilogy (Star Wars IV: A New Hope in particular). Visceral began work on it in the early-to-mid 2010s.
In the face of Star Wars Battlefront’s great reception, Project Ragtag became less of a priority. Visceral received less support and the studio began to shrink, resulting in EA’s decision that the gameplay they’d seen glimpses of in 2016 and 2017 didn’t cut the mustard.
Later that year, the studio was disbanded and Project Ragtag cancelled in favour of a flashier, more open-world project.
