10 Awesome Features In Truly Terrible Video Games
5. That INSANELY Good Gunplay - Destiny
When Bungie had finished with Halo, they were shooting for the stars with their latest IP, Destiny.
Presumed to be the next big thing in MMO gaming, it was supposed to be like World of Warcraft, just an FPS with a science-fiction flair. Boy, they've failed really hard. Being ground-zero for terrible loot-grind mechanics, Destiny had a rather short-lived campaign that was mostly hacked and given to its paid expansions, while still having horrid load times and leaving out certain features mentioned during advertising.
But the fact that Bungie was working on Halo shows in Destiny's gunplay.
It's intense and profoundly rewarding. Every gun packs the punch you'd think it would, and even though the loot grinding is bad, most of the legendary guns are worth it. You're pairing this with the three classes and various skills, and Destiny really does deliver in this regard.
Gladly, with Destiny 2, Bungie continued to improve on the amazing mechanics of gunplay, introducing even more skills and class changes, legendary weapons, and new combos. Unfortunately, they haven't learned anything from their other mistakes, as Destiny 2 is just as bad.
Side note though, the lore in these games is insanely deep.
