10 Awesome Features In Truly Terrible Video Games
6. Playing As Crash AND Cortex - Crash Twinsanity
Crash Bandicoot blazed onto the stage and set up three solid platformers on the original PlayStation; these three were restored into the N. Sane Trilogy, in 2017.
Naughty Dog released the initial three titles, and the quality left after they quit. Wrath of Cortex was the first indication of a decline in standard, but Twinsanity really proved that it was gone: endless cheap deaths, poor controls, incompetent cameras, and uninspired gameplay.
One gameplay factor really stands out though: playing both Crash and Cortex. Now, this is not a new concept; just look at Ratchet & Clank. They're not really doing a lot of new stuff with the idea either. What makes it so great is humour. Cortex is a crazy scientist who thinks he's smarter than he is, and Crash is a walking, not talking, stupid marsupial.
The interactions between the two characters as you explore the semi-open environments are simply hilarious; Crash uses Cortex as a hammer, rolls in around in barrels, and helps escort him through traps.
It's a shame that the game is so bad and it feels rushed because seeing the comedy between the two leads makes us think there would have been something very cool about this title. It's just a shame that everything else is pulling it down.
Thank goodness we have Crash 4 now.
