10 Awesome Indie Games You Need To Play Immediately

6. Echochrome

I remember watching E3 2007 when then Executive VP Phil Harrison announced Echochrome. I was not big on puzzle games, but it piqued my interest quickly. Before we were rotating the colorful world of Fez, the black and white art direction of Echochrome was adding more wrinkles to our brains than any Sudoku puzzle or brain teaser could. It is a game in which your control of the world is more important than your control of the character.

Your objective is to guide a auto-moving mannequin from one point of the 3D world to the next and collect shadows of the mannequin called €œechoes€. To do this, you need to rotate the world so gaps or hidden or shapes are connected so your mannequin can process along its path. Circles that allowed you to jump or fall added to the immense depth of game play, allowing you to learn tricks of the game that only come with practice and patience. This aspect gives the 3D game 2D properties you have to understand if you want to progress through the hundreds of levels now available for the game.
