Jenova Chen, developer of Flow, Flower, and Journey, is kind of a big deal. Before Journey was collecting accolades in 2012, Flow was making Chen a name within the industry. Flow was the first game Chen€™s company, thatgamecompany, developed for Sony after signing a development deal to produce three games for them. Flow started out as a flash game, but upon its re-release on the PS3 in 2007, it became the most downloaded game on the PS Network.

At first glance, one would think Flow is just some psychedelic game that you are supposed to play under the inebriation of something, but like the game, you have to dig deeper and deeper. You control worm-like creature and consume cells and other creatures inhabiting the liquid blue world. A very interesting aspect of Flow is that as the game starts, you€™re instantly in the game. No menus. No tutorials. Just play. You€™ll quickly understand the mechanics and purpose of the game; but don€™t let the ease of the first few levels fool you, Flow€™s difficulty ramps up the deeper you dive. Passive cells and creatures become bigger and more aggressive, making it more difficult to defeat them and progress. The game€™s soundtrack follows the theme of simplicity by blending euphoric tones together creating a perfect ambiance.
