10 Awesome Minigames In Video Game Credits
1. Nier: Automata (2017)
Nier: Automata is an amazingly slick and fast-paced spin-off of the Drakengard series, featuring agile hack-and-slash combat in a similar vein as that of God of War and Devil May Cry.
Building on this, however, is the addition of bullet hell elements to the formula, which not only brings a whole new intensity to many of the enemy encounters, but also lays the foundation for quite possibly the most dynamic, colourful, buttock-clenching credits scene ever devised by man.
With audio logs playing in the background, the player takes control of a little triangular ship, which can move around freely and shoot at the falling names and orbs across the screen. It plays much like the classic Atari game, Asteroids, but with a suitably hellish amount of bullets to avoid and blast through.
Keep going, and you'll eventually accrue more ships with which to fend off those pesky developers, resulting in a truly spellbinding light show from start to finish.
It's also a deeply emotional sequence, with an original song performed by the dev team that captures the game's themes of unity and self-sacrifice in a way that will cause even the toughest nuts to crack.
Why every game doesn't go for a send-off as powerful as this is a mystery for the ages. But at the same time, it just makes us appreciate this one all the more.
