5. Cursed Items - Golden Sun

The Golden Sun games are infamous for being loaded with the coolest weapons and items in video game history. Who wouldn't want to use a Thunder Crown - or the Demon Axe? Well, there's good reason to be cautious before hastily equipping the most awesome-sounding items:

Curses.

A Cursed Item, once equipped, cannot be removed normally - meaning that if you find something better later down the line, it's a real pain to struggle out of your old items and equip new ones. This means that any Cursed Item that scales out of usefulness during late-game quickly becomes an incredible hindrance. And if this wasn't bad enough, we haven't even gotten to the effects of Cursed Items in battle!

A Cursed Item normally has some pretty impressive stats and damage. However, it also has a chance to prevent a character from moving on any given turn. And worse, that chance doesn't decrease - so you could get stun-locked for multiple turns! Any turn-based veteran knows that losing one turn is potentially high-risk, high-reward, but losing two in a row is certain death.
