Now I know what you might be thinking, how on earth could you accidentally skip the second boss in the game?

Well, gather round kids and let me tell you.

After booting up Dark Souls and creating your character you can select a gift item to take with you on your journey. These include firebombs, stat-boosting rings, or the incredibly useful Master Key.

If you choose the Master Key, you will be able to unlock several doors in the game's first area, including one that leads directly to the luscious and foreboding Darkroot Basin - a later game area. Said door is protected by Havel, who can pummel you into a fine paste if he catches you but it's easy enough to slip by him and out of the door.

Some players have reported that they inadvertently took this route upon their initial playthrough and completely missed the Taurus Demon, only encountering him much later in the game when they were back-tracking to hoover up optional content.

It's also worth noting that if you choose the Thief class you're automatically gifted the Master Key by default, meaning that those with sticky-fingers are more likely to avoid this horny terror.
