10 Best Areas In Dark Souls
1. Anor Londo - Dark Souls
The City of the Gods and your fabled destination from the very start of your quest in Dark Souls. This was the first "goal" location and the one that set a bar so high that it could never really be topped.
When you manage to ring the two bells of awakening, traverse Sen's fortress and defeat the Iron Golem, you are carried here and it is everything you would expect and more. From the giant enemies guarding the ancient buildings to the painting guardians in the rafters blocking access to the Painted World, everything feels unique and fresh.
With the rotating staircase in the centre, the silver knight archers that snipe you off the ledges and the Giant Blacksmith that crafts your boss weapons, many aspects of this location are repeated in the third game and for good reason.
Add in the double-boss encounter of Ornstein and Smough, your second meeting with Solaire and your encounter with Gwynevere (and Gwyndolin if you wish), there is little to fault. As well as being able to access the Painted World, you can also experience the "dark" version of Anor Londo by attacking Gwynevere and enraging the firekeeper in the process.
The original and the best.
