10 Best Battle Royale Video Games - Ranked
4. H1Z1: King Of The Kill
Brendan Greene got around on the battle royale circuit a bit before developing PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds. He also helped work with Daybreak Games on H1Z1, a DayZ-style zombie survival game that was originally going to be released on the PS4. Now it's in early access, with a widespread release supposedly still coming. King of the Kill is a battle royale mode found within that game - it's effectively a watered down version of what would later become PUBG.
The amount of weapons on offer is limited, there are no attachments and there isn't a convoluted crafting system to micromanage. At the same time, this means the game is considerably more accessible than its more serious counterparts. King of the Kill also features a very interesting change from the usual formula, which helps to ramp up the pace of matches - rather than choosing where to land at the start of the game, you're spawned directly into a random spot next to a bunch of other players.
This change to the battle royale formula causes mass eliminations at the start of each match, which is useful seeing as King of the Kill features a whopping 200 players per game.
