10 Best Battle Royale Video Games - Ranked
3. Ark: Survival Of The Fittest
Ark: Survival Evolved has been a big winner for developer Studio Wildcard, encapsulating people with its enormous, dinosaur-filled open world. As a survival game, players have to learn to fight and tame the creatures as well as build shelter and hunt for food. When creating the game's battle royale spin-off, Ark: Survival of the Fittest, a number of the game's selling points translated over.
Much like other battle royale games, you're dropped into a vast world with a number of other players - this time 71 - and forced to survive. This time however, there are also dinosaurs and beasts roaming the map attempting to kill you. These monsters can be tamed and even ridden, to give you an edge and add an entirely new dimension to the game. It's a clever way of incorporating battle royale mechanics into a world so different from its contemporaries, while not losing what made Ark interesting.
Unfortunately however, Survival of the Fittest was unable to retain a player base in the face of stiff competition. Despite going free-to-play, the game was 'reintegrated' back into Ark: Survival Evolved when numbers dwindled.
