10 Best Licensed Video Games Of The Generation (So Far)

6. Alien: Rogue Incursion

Let’s get the obvious out the way: Alien: Isolation is still the best game based on the franchise. Hands down. Top five horror game of all time, easy. And if you're on PC, yes - the fan-made VR mod somehow makes it even more terrifying. But it’s outside our list’s timeslot, so what else has the xenomorph been up to lately?

We’ve had Dark Descent, a solid but niche tactical RTS. Aliens: Fireteam Elite tried co-op horde shooter vibes. But neither felt particularly essential. Alien: Rogue Incursion, on the other hand, actually swings big - and in VR, no less.

Developed by Survios (yes, the same studio behind the painfully underwhelming The Walking Dead: Onslaught), this is them firmly back on their game. Smartly swerving comparisons to Isolation, Rogue Incursion leans into James Cameron’s sequel instead, throwing you into frantic encounters with xenos popping out of vents, walls, and your peripheral vision.

You play as ex-Marine Zula Hendricks, stomping around a facility on planet Purdan with your motion tracker beeping and your pulse rifle ready. It's claustrophobic, atmospheric, and immersive in all the ways VR should be. The early issues? Fixed in post-launch patches. The panic? Still very real.

Rogue Incursion doesn’t try to outdo Isolation - it sidesteps it completely, and gives you the third-act Aliens experience in full-fat VR. It’s intense, it's sweaty, and it’s proof that VR horror, when done right, is something truly special.
