6. Forza Horizon 5
With the Microsoft/Activision Blizzard acquisition still being tangled up in legalities at the time of writing, the cut of Microsoft's argument seems to be "We need to do something to combat the fact that PlayStation has much better games than us."
And while that may be true for a variety of genres, when it comes to racing games the two companies are equally matched. Sony has Gran Turismo and Microsoft has Forza Horizon, and in Forza Horizon 5, the Xbox has sole possession of one of the greatest racers ever made.
Forza Horizon 5 sees developers Playground Games working at the height of their powers. The game's depiction of Mexico provides an arrestingly atmospheric backdrop to the action, the 600-strong list of cars is an autophile's dream, and the co-op is utterly joyous (bombing through Mexico alongside a group of friends created some of this writer's best gaming memories in years).
As beautiful and deep as Mexico's Copper Canyon (which you can, of course, visit in-game), Forza Horizon 5 cements the series' reputation as one of the best reasons to own an Xbox console.
