Explosions, mayhem, overthrowing a brutal dictator, and more explosions. That's basically all there is to know about Just Cause 2, although throwing massive open world into that description makes it frighteningly accurate.
Joking aside, Avalanche Studio's Guinness World Record-breaking oppression liberation simulator is still incredibly fun to go back to and blow the crap out of.
Rico Rodriguez is a member of the Agency who is tasked with travelling to fictional island Panau to free the inhabitants from the grasp of a violent authoritarian regime. A tale as old as time, a fact which the game is fully aware of and gleefully asks you to discard story investment in favour of your preferred flavour of plastic explosive.
Panau is a bright, vibrant sandbox just teeming with things to see and inevitably blow up, and the later inclusion of a multiplayer feature on PC just makes it so much more fun.
Yes, Just Cause 2 is all about having fun, which seems to be a more alien concept as time marches on, and this game is here to remind us all how great it actually is.
