1. God Of War
One of the best aspects of any God of War title has got to be the story, which always cuts deep into the various mythologies the game is set within. Previously, this has predominantly been in the realm of the Greek pantheon, but the 2018 release of God of War shook things up by shooting forward in the franchise's timeline and setting up deep within the lore of Norse Mythology.
God of War not only has an amazing story that keeps the player enthralled from beginning to end, it has drop dead gorgeous graphics and gameplay that makes it feel like the player truly is Kratos, the God of War.
This isn't simply another sequel to the God of War franchise, it was so fully developed and intense that it stands above all the games that came before it. Every future addition to the franchise will have to build atop the very high (and broad) shoulders of 2018's God of War.
God of War eked past Spider-Man to the top spot in the list due to the story and gameplay, but you can't help but love the voice acting by the brilliant and always talented Christopher Judge. He even managed to throw an "Indeed" into the dialogue, which is something fans of Stargate absolutely loved. Add to that the thousands of "Boy" memes, and you have a lasting product that truly took over the zeitgeist.
