3. Wolfenstein: The New Order

Wolfenstein: The New Order looked like it was going to be a good bit of fun judging by its pre-release footage and screenshots. But who'd have thought it'd offer one of the most consistently surprising, wacky, and intricately crafted single-player FPS experiences since Half-Life 2? Taking place in an alternative 1960s where Nazis won the Second World War, players take control of William Blazkowicz as he attempts to bring down the regime. The gameplay is decidedly old-school, with the ability to dual-wield just about every weapon and the hip-firing, explosive action. There are many more modern innovations that keep the experienced fresh though, such as a health system that makes use of both regeneration and health packs, and the ability to stealth your way through missions. A great single-player adventure, Wolfenstein: The New Order is filled to brim with memorable characters, inspired sequences and stunning locations. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rE1FAdw2P2M
