10 Best Rockstar Games Protagonists - Ranked
5. Jimmy Hopkins
While The Warriors is its most underrated game, Bully stands as Rockstar's cult classic.
The game's protagonist Jimmy Hopkins is a troubled kid that has been dealt a crappy hand in life; his mother just married a rich prick who is eager to dump Jimmy off at the preppy Bullworth Academy. He finds himself trying to navigate the choppy social waters of the school, doing favours for his peers, befriending each clique and pissing off the teachers in the process.
Bully is an incredibly fun game that those who didn't understand it were quick to judge and ridicule. While the game is called Bully and allows you to be just that, it's a story of fighting back against authority and actual bully's in order to bring people together and end corruption. And Jimmy is a fantastic protagonist because he looks and talks like an ass, but he's much more nuanced than he first appears.
He's part James Dean, part Holden Caulfield in a unique school setting. And it's up to the gamer to decide if their version of Jimmy is a nice guy with rough edges, or a true-blue bully. Regardless, the story takes Jimmy on a journey of self-discovery, one in which he shows himself to have a pretty big heart, as well as a pretty big slingshot.
