10 Best RPG Quests That DON'T Involve Combat

4. “Find Your Gun” (Disco Elysium)

Disco Elysium Harrier Du Bois
Microsoft Windows

Disco Elysium had to appear on this list as it is one of the best RPGs on the market and doesn't have a combat system. As such, picking a quest to place here is like being a kid in a candy store. The quest to find your missing gun is one mission that easily captures the game's chaotic yet heartfelt energy and deserves the spot.

You start this game as a cop in the aftermath of a drunken bender. Unfortunately, not only are you missing your clothes, badge, and memory, but also your firearm. Your search for it leads you to Evrart Claire, an unflinching union boss who reveals (after some busywork) that "The Pigs" has it. Who is The Pigs? Well, you're about to find out.

It turns out that The Pigs is a mentally unwell woman under the delusion that she is an officer of the law. What follows is a gut-wrenching interaction where you learn how much this poor woman has suffered and come to understand just how bleak living in this place is. You do get your gun back, but the encounter is one you won't forget in a hurry.
