6. Gem The Jeweler - Illusion Of Time/Gaia

Another classic here, maybe even somewhat obscure, but if you ever thought Rodin from Bayonetta was a crafty one, Gem did it first.

Throughout Will's journey to the Tower of Babel to stop a comet destroying the earth, you come across red jewels in various locales around the world. These can be sent to Gem the Jeweler, who rewards you after receiving a predetermined amount. These range from stat and health boosts, health items, to ability boosts for both Will and the avatars he transforms into.

So understandably, when you get the 50th and are treated to a trip to Gem's mansion, you'd be thinking, "Ooh, what spoils await me here?" in giddy excitement.

Sadly, these hopes are dashed as it turns out Gem is actually Solid Arm, the boss from the prequel game, Soul Blazer.

Turns out, the kindly-faced jeweler-cum-secret boss has actually been pulling the strings on some of the nastier things in the land of Illusion of Time/Gaia. So you're doing everyone a favour by destroying him. With a flute, no less.

No, really. A flute.
