1. Gordon Freeman
It's been a very long time since we last saw Half-Life's Gordon Freeman in action, with Half-Life 3 apparently stuck in development limbo for as long as Valve decides it will be.
Regardless, in just two games - and the occasional episode or spin-off - Gordon Freeman has managed to establish himself as one of the biggest badasses to ever swing a crowbar.
It simply does not matter what you throw at this guy. Headcrabs? Child's play. Specially trained armed forces? He'll eat them for breakfast. Enormous mechanical spiders? Those Striders won't be standing for very long with Gordon Freeman around.
He even managed to command troops and essentially lead his own rebellion without ever saying a word.
There are few characters that have gamers chomping at the bit for a return to their former glory and it is a given that the eventual announcement of Half-Life 3 and its voiceless hero will be met with a rapturous reception when it finally happens.
It is going to happen... isn't it Valve?
