10 Best Video Game User Interfaces

4. Persona 5

Mirror's Edge Catalyst
Atlus

Whatever you make of Persona 5 as a game, there's little disputing the claim that it boasts one of the most brilliantly artful UIs ever. After all, is there any other user interface in gaming history that fans have actually cosplayed as?

Though a cursory glance at the game might suggest an overly busy, cluttered interface designed to bamboozle players, this is an entirely intentional conceit on the part of developers Atlus.

The menu transitions, full of gorgeously fluid, stylised animations, are as wilfully over-the-top as the game's own story and just as implacable as its tortured characters.

This does of course mean that players may need a little time to fully acquaint themselves to navigating each aspect of the interface, but even with its heavily focus on aesthetics, it's still extremely snappy and intuitive once you get used to it.

There's perhaps no better argument in the medium that a UI can aspire to be a work of art in its own right. More like this, please.
