10 Best Video Games Based On Comic Books

5. The Wolf Among Us

Telltale Games

Telltale Games has created some of the best interactive story adventures since the early days of point-and-click gaming. Unlike most of its episodic graphic adventure games, The Wolf Among Us is canon with the comic book universe. It serves as a prequel to the events of Vertigo's Fables series.

The Wolf Among Us consists of five episodes, which were released throughout 2013. Gameplay is centered around Bigby Wolf, the sheriff of Fabletown, as he investigates the murder of a woman. Like the comics it is based on, The Wolf Among Us includes a ton of amazing characters whose stories unfold throughout the story.

The majority of players and critics praised the story, which keeps the events, setting, and characters in line with the comic book world created by Bill Willingham, though he didn't take part in writing The Wolf Among Us. Telltale delayed the game for more than a year, so the writers could get it just right.

This also made it possible to incorporate the gameplay mechanics that worked well in Telltale's The Walking Dead Game into the Fables title. The Wolf Among Us was well-received by fans of the comics and players who never read them, and it was given a sequel set to release in 2021.
