10 Best World War 2 Video Games Of All time

4. Call Of Duty: World At War

Battlefield 1942

Call of Duty 2's angrier, edgier, older cousin, World At War attempted to shed light on a more brutal side of WW2 than any of the previous games in the series.

Featuring bloody shooting mechanics that let you dismember and obliterate enemy players, as well as a narrative that looked at the atrocities committed by the Axis powers, the campaign is one of COD's best, but it was let down slightly by its "'Murica, f**k yeah!" attitude.

The multiplayer was severely underrated too, bringing the visceral bloodshed from the campaign over to TDM shootouts. It acted as the perfect antidote to Modern Warfare's contemporary focus at the time, and is still fun to jump back into today (please, Activision, just remaster it already).

Even with the limited development resources at their disposal, Treyarch proved that WW2 could still be interesting when done correctly, and delivered one of the most underrated World War 2 shooters of the generation in the process.
