10 Best World War 2 Video Games Of All time

3. Medal Of Honor: Frontline

Battlefield 1942
EA

Despite its technical limitations, Medal of Honor: Frontline did more to capture the horror of World War 2 than any other game on this list. The opening D-Day mission in particular puts every other version of the iconic battle to shame, authentically capturing the chaos, disorientation and terror of storming Omaha beach without any of the hoo-rah jingoism that muddles the point.

The game doesn't blow all of its good ideas on that opening section though, as the title constantly moves through other large-scale battles from the later stages of the conflict, delivering one amazing set-piece after another. Skipping from wide-open engagements to close-quarters environments, there are a variety of intense combat scenarios at the heart of the title that help capture the full scale of the war.

The shooting itself doesn't hold up quite as well in comparison today, especially with Call of Duty bursting onto the scene, but Frontline more than makes up for it with an unbeatable atmosphere and one of the most balanced takes on the conflict ever seen.
