10 Big Worries That Could Derail 2015’s Most Hyped Video Games
7. Uncharted 4: A Thief's End - Is More Of The Same A Good Thing?
Speaking of iterating ever so slightly on established formulas, Uncharted 4 marks Naughty Dog's first time branching outside of an established trilogy of games for any given series (minus racers like Crash Team Racing and Jak X), begging questions of necessity alongside whether or not the dev team can create another instalment on the level of Uncharted 2. The first game was a brilliant execution of how to do an Indiana Jones-esque tale in video game form, but it wasn't until the second that the writing duo of Neil Druckmann and Bruce Straley really came into their own. By the time U3 came around they were cruising, fleshing out Drake's backstory but mainly just creating an excuse to have a string of set-pieces one after the other. This made for a solid entry, but also an increasing sense of series-fatigue that just might extend to part four depending on how much they're iterating on the core gameplay itself. So far we've seen rope-swinging punches and excuses to combine your moves when taking out areas of guards, but it's all very much more of the same - something that's going to rally the fans and elicit groans from the rest in equal measure.
