10 Biggest Game Of The Year 2017 Contenders So Far

10. Yakuza 0

Whilst it doesn't do much to reinvent the franchise, Yakuza 0 does perfect all of the elements that make it special.

Acting as a prequel to the rest of the Yakuza series, Yakuza 0 introduces main-man Kazuma Kiryu and fellow frenemy Majima at the start of their respective careers. The two characters are wildly different now to how they once were, and this makes the story one of the best in the series so far.

Not only does Yakuza 0 give us a look at the background of two of its most beloved characters, but it also streamlines and masters its famous combat system.

Both Kiryu and Majima have completely different fighting styles, and can switch between four unique styles whenever you like. This adds a huge amount of variety to any encounter, especially considering that each style can be further upgraded on its own. This variety continues onto the mini-games, which range from hanging out in Sega arcades and playing Outlast, to shooting pool or dropping into a karaoke bar to sing the night away.

Yakuza 0 may not be the best game in the world, but its certainly the best game in the series, and a perfect place to start if you've been wanting to see what the fuss was about.
