10 Biggest Game Of The Year 2017 Contenders So Far

9. For Honor

Ubisoft have gotten a bit of a bad rap lately for having massively repetitive open worlds with no substance. The deep and layered combat system of For Honor though, feels like the first step in restoring consumer faith in their name.

For Honor has the completely unique 'Art of Battle' system that has players blocking and attacking in different directions to try and catch their enemy off guard and get a hit in. This is compounded by every different playable character having completely different moves and abilities, making gameplay feel like a matter of mastering your favourite fighter.

The battle system, as well as the beautiful presentation and variety of playable characters, is what makes For Honor truly amazing. It's completely unique in the moment, and makes for an amazingly captivating experience once you get the hang of the controls.

There are slight knocks from a microtransaction-laden economy and a generally slow system of unlocks, but For Honor's gameplay remains one of the biggest surprises of the year.
