10 Biggest Gaming Franchises With So Many Entries It's Just Offensive

3. The Sims

Still, at least the Final Fantasy games all have their own individual sense of personality, which is more than can be said for the absurdly prolific The Sims franchise. The original game has 7 spin-offs, the second game has 8 spin-offs, and the third game has 11 of them! This doesn't even include the various collections and boxed sets, the naff console versions, the bungled The Sims Online, games based on The Sims' pets, The Sims: Medieval, a Facebook game, a mobile game, and finally the woefully desperate MySims series, designed for the Nintendo DS and Wii. More so than any other series on this list, The Sims games just don't justify their own existence. Sure, the main games are good fun, but who in their right mind is seriously buying all of these expansions? From the few I've played, they only tend to add a few hours of play at best, and should really have become DLC by now, which is basically what they are anyway. Or better yet, put them in the game right off the bat, given that these additions are likely already completed before the game's gone gold anyway.
