5. Watch Dogs Crashes Nintendo's E3 Party

Heading into E3, it seemed like it was going to be another predictable year at the world's most famous trade show, with glossy presentations for Halo 4 and the Wii-U likely drawing the lion's share of the attention. Oh how wrong we all were, though, when Ubisoft unleashed upon us easily the most intriguing title to be released next year, the enigmatic sci-fi thriller Watch Dogs. With stunning visuals, and a compelling premise - whereby you can hack into your environment to help you evade your pursuers - this game stole the show at E3, essentially shaming the Wii-U, which was widely expected to sweep the trade show with an impressive array of new titles, which it absolutely did not. It's rare that a single game is the talking point of E3, but Watch Dogs proved sufficiently exciting and a breath of fresh air in a genre that too often feels stagnant and overworked. There was more originality and promise in this demonstration than pretty much every other video combined at the show, so hats off to Ubisoft; here's to hoping that the final product doesn't disappoint.
