8. The Elder Scrolls VI Reveal
Among the gaming greats of the 2010s, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is in the conversation for the gold medal. It truly brought Bethesda’s RPG to the next level in every way, including broader appeal, making it one of the best-selling games of all time.
As such, expectations for its follow-up were huge.
Bethesda officially acknowledged the existence of a sixth Elder Scrolls at E3 2018 with a sweeping landscape shot and a simple logo.
Reactions to the trailer were mixed - many were excited to see Bethesda promise another entry in the franchise but most were simply perplexed. Of course, there will be an Elder Scrolls VI… but when?
7 years later, that’s all we’ve seen. For the record, that means there is more time between the trailer and today than there was between the trailer and the release of Skyrim.
With news coming a whole five years later that it was finally starting production, it’s impossible to say when the game itself will arrive.
One thing’s for certain - the memes about the never-ending wait have still got plenty of life left in them.
