10 Biggest Video Game Botches Of 2021
3. GTA Definitive Trilogy's... Everything
Grand Theft Autos III, Vice City, and San Andreas are all classic titles and still well-loved by the community, so the announcement that the three games would all be remastered in one definitive edition brought with it a lot of excitement initially.
The game went through a two-year development process, with Grove Street Games ripping the physics code from all three games in an attempt to keep the same feel, but present all of their unique visual styles in a modern way.
Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition hit its first snag before it even was released, with Rockstar drawing criticism for pulling the original copies from digital retailers and being forced into a u-turn after the backlash.
As for the game post-release, The Definitive Edition was launched to widespread indifference and sometimes even downright panning. Rather than add to the feel and character of these classic titles, many players felt the game stole away the magic of the originals, and the Windows version in particular was subject to huge review bombing after the game was left unplayable in the Rockstar Games Launcher for three days.
