10 Bizarre Video Game Achievements You Didn't See Coming

6. Eyes Of Steel - Before Your Eyes

Keeping your eyes open is unlikely to be something you celebrate unless you’re trying to bypass jet lag, in the final hour of The Revenant after a long evening, or you’re a small child.

Or, finally, if you happen to be playing Before Your Eyes.

The critically acclaimed 2021 adventure from GoodbyeWorld Games tells a magical story about family, memory, the passage of time, and the tribulations of life. Most importantly for our purposes, though, is the main gameplay mechanic where you progress through scenes in the story by blinking. As in, blinking where your webcam can see you. Naturally, then, proving skill in this game that doesn’t really require it would be keeping your eyes open to see more of each scene.

But they couldn’t possibly give you an achievement for keeping your eyes open, right? Well, they absolutely did.

You might not have expected to be praised for it, especially in a relatively serious narrative adventure, but you’ll pop Eyes of Steel by keeping your eyes open as the metronome ticks down at the conclusion of the essential parts of a scene for thirty seconds. Good luck and get hydrated.
