Katana Zero is an amazing side-scroller in which you play as a samurai super soldier with the ability to predict the outcome of your every move.

Gameplay-wise, this means being able to reverse time after you mess something up.

Storywise, your power is the result of your addiction to a special drug called Chronos, and the consequences of your prolonged use of it eventually rear their ugly head.

The more you play, the more your character realizes that their dependence on Chronos is destroying both their body and mind. They are constantly suffering episodes of psychosis, and eventually, the drug makes them physically vulnerable, too.

At that point, you can either stop the cycle of violence by letting the soldiers pursuing you shoot you, or you can try to keep going.

The second ending may sound more compelling, seeing as it allows you to keep playing and perhaps seek atonement or a cure for your health issues, but the path of resistance also ends with your death, only more slowly and violently as you push yourself over your limit.

Death is truly inevitable no matter what you do. And even if you try not to use Chronos the entire game, your past usage takes its toll anyway.
