10 Brain Bending Video Game Puzzles That Will Drive You Insane

2. The Swapper

The puzzles themselves in The Swapper don't really mess with your head too much. In fact, they're innovative, interesting, and give you a great sense of satisfaction upon completion. With each challenge, you must clone yourself up to four times, and navigate obstacles by having the clones mirror your actions in order to obtain orbs. It is, quite simply, brilliant.

So why, if the balance of the puzzles is so good, does this game screw with your mind? Because of the philosophical implications. For expedience, or out of necessity, you murder your clones. Over, and over again. You are in search of your soul, and there is nothing at all to suggest that you have any precedence, any greater right to life, than those that you murder, so casually.

The narrative of The Swapper swirls around this philsophical premise, and never leaves it. Perhaps, for human beings there is no soul, just the ruthless pursuit of one. Perhaps the obstacles and challenges that we face are, ultimately, meaningless. And then the game ends. A true mind f**k.
