10 Brutal Video Games That Kill You IMMEDIATELY

8. Battlefield 1

Demon Souls
EA DICE

Although the Battlefield franchise has increasingly moved away from a story-mode in recent years they are still capable of telling great stories.

Battlefield 1 was highly praised for the way it portrayed the First World War, with destroyed landscapes that are as depressing as they are gorgeous.

Trees blown to pieces, craters in the ground, flames cracking and roaring all around you, smoke polluting the sky and suffocating the sun... if you didn't stop to take in the beautiful level design on display, then you are truly missing out.

Alongside the online mode, there is a series of short stories focusing on different historical figures and battles of the war, yet none compare to the short prologue mission Storm of Steel.

Once you load Battlefield 1 for the first time the mission begins automatically, whereupon a title card appears reading 'What follows is frontline combat. You are not expected to survive'. You are a Harlem Hellfighter fighting in the trenches against the advancing German army.

As you exchange gunfire with the enemy you will slowly begin to be overwhelmed. Once you die, some text will appear stating that soldier's name, date of birth and date of death.

You assume the role of different soldiers holding different positions, but always with the same outcome. One of the most haunting game introductions ever made.
