Lately, Dark Souls’ Sif has been the subject of a lot of snark, as it closely resembles Zacian, one of the new Legendary Pokémon of Nintendo Switch hit Pokémon Sword & Shield. Still, this is no laughing matter.

Great Grey Wolf Sif is encountered in Dark Souls, guardian the grave of its master, Artorius the Abysswalker. Artorius continues to protect his loyal companion from beyond the grave with his Greatshield, and Sif returns the favor. The noble beast doesn’t want to fight the player, but does so out of mercy, wanting to protect them from a similar fate to Artorius’.

Now, the player may not know any of this, as the lore is often lost on players who rush through and don’t pay attention. Even without such knowledge, though, this good-est of boys visibly suffers as the fight goes on and it sustains damage, limping and struggling to attack.

Why the doggo, FromSoftware? Why? Why is this a mandatory story boss, come to that?
