This is, of course, THE most important question Nintendo have still not answered. Where is Waluigi?

Even during the hype-building season for Smash Ultimate, Nintendo themselves seemed to be trolling fans with Masahiro Sakurai giving some of his presentation sat in front of a pair of quite distinctively coloured chairs. Fans wondered whether this was some next level of trolling from Nintendo around the fact people want Waluigi in Smash but weren't getting any glimpse of him. Later claims said that it was just a representation of the light and dark villains of Smash Ultimate, Galeem and Dharkon.

What have we got for Smash DLC so far? The Pirhana Plant and Joker from Persona 5. OK, fine - but there are still four further challenger DLC packs to be announced for Smash. Depsite dataminer's best efforts and the speculation of endless amounts of YouTubers, the only hint thus far about future character and stage DLC is centred around Dragon Quest.

Waluigi has done his fair share of service for Nintendo: he's been an ace tennis player, been a striker and a kart driver and motorcycle rider but he's still only made it to the level of a trophy, assist or spirit in Smash games. It's frustrating, demeaning and no way to treat Luigi's bad counterpart.

Sakurai-san, we love you. But give us Waluigi! We had the Year of Luigi in 2013 so why not the year of Waluigi?#justiceforwaluigi
