10 Cancelled Star Wars Games We’ll NEVER Get Over

Many Star Wars games got tossed into the trash compactor as a knock-on effect of Disney's acquisition of Lucasfilm in 2012. So, for the sake of variety, let's look at a cancellation that occurred after the Disney takeover.

Due to the success of The Mandalorian, a video game adaptation didn't just seem welcome but needed. So, when there were rumblings of a first-person shooter revolving around a Mando bounty hunter, the fanbase was elated. More importantly, the game was to be developed by Respawn Entertainment, who worked on the incredible Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and its sequel, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor.

Of course, with Respawn being owned by EA (and EA having a patchy track record with the Star Wars license), nothing could be guaranteed - even with Respawn delivering repeat successes with the license. Lo and behold, in 2024, EA declared Respawn Entertainment's project was dead.

Though the game's termination was reportedly due to restructuring and massive layoffs, a report from Bespin Bulletin suggested the lack of Jedi and lightsabers played a contributing factor to The Mandalorian project getting shafted, despite The Mandalorian TV series being one of the few major Star Wars successes to have emerged in the last five years.

Little is known about the game's content, but the prospect of collecting bounties and flying around in a jetpack would've been awesome.
