2. StarCraft: Ghost

Developer: Blizzard Entertainment / Nihilistic Software / Swingin' Ape Studios Concept: Stealth-action game set in StarCraft universe StarCraft: Ghost had all the makings of a classic. The StarCraft universe is still well-known and hugely popular worldwide, and the gameplay looked to be both accessible to a mainstream audience and extremely fun. The main character, Nova, had many interesting abilities such as cloaking and an EMP device, which could have made for some exceedingly interesting gameplay. Most of all, StarCraft: Ghost appeared to be the first chance for players to really step into the world of StarCraft, which had previously only been explored at a distance from a top-down angle. After years of anticipation, StarCraft: Ghost was announced as being on 'indefinite hold' by Blizzard in 2006, although occasional reports have rumoured that the game is still in the pipeline.
